am attempting to use solar panels to charge 18 volt batteries. the batteries are 18 volts, DC, NI Cad, and 10A. I want to know if i could effectively charge the batteries and what i would need to do this with specific details on what to get and even better links to where i could get them. i was also wondering if i could make it so the solar panels charge the batteries while i use the batteries or if i could run the motors that use the 18 volt batteries right off the solar panels while hopefully charging the batteries if they start to get drained. I only know of 12 volt solar panels so i was thinking of using two solar panels to boost the power to 24 volts and would also like to know if pumping this current into batteries it would reduce to 18 volts because thats all the current the batteries are capable of using. i can try to find other information on the batteries if needed and i would greatly appreciate any and all help.

Please describe exactly what parameters are these panesl, voltage, current and power output. What are yours battery- capaticance. You are just planning and try to find solution or you just have these elements. Later I woud send more informations and any probably right methods to eventually measure or experiment to find the right way of the problem.
