Can I run a motor rated at 50Hz at 60Hz?

What will this do? Whats the theory behind this?

For example: the motor is nominal rated 50Hz and 1500rpm.

At 60Hz the motor in practise will have 1500*60/50=1500*1,2=1800rpm
The motors nominal power is rather exciting the load so, I think the most important is the varying turns rpm.
In practise better check if the motor not warming excessive, of course.
(only my thoughts, not practised that example)
