Why don't you just put a 1000v megger across the surface of your arm?

It is suggested at 500Kohms to 2Mohms. This is obviously extremely vaired (sq. ft of skin etc), but you have to also take into account internal resistance of the body.
I once heard a story, may be a myth; a sailor wishing to test the internal resistance of his body with a multimeter, pierced the skin on either finger and the DC current from the 9V batter travelled across his heart and eventually killed him.
He was alone, though. Likely would have survived if he recieved attention straight after the shock.
